In August 2026, AUSVEG and VegWatch hosted NZ Veg Research & Development Manager Daniel Sutton for a four-state roadshow on Tomato Potato Psyllid (TPP) and Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum (CLso).
These sessions provided a valuable opportunity for growers, agronomists and other industry stakeholders to hear first-hand about the impacts that TPP and CLso have had on New Zealand’s potato industry, as well as the approaches being used to manage the pest and disease complex.
New Zealand’s experience highlighted that the cost of managing TPP and CLso extends beyond individual growers, with the potential to affect production, processing, market confidence and the broader sustainability of the potato industry.
