Integrated Disease Management (IDM) Project

The integrated disease management program for the Australian potato industry (PT23002) is a levy funded, national initiative led by the University of Tasmania and Western Sydney University to help growers better manage soil-borne diseases impacting potato production across Australia.

The project is developing practical tools and strategies including rapid diagnostics, biological control options, pathogen mapping, and region-specific IDM guidelines to support more sustainable and cost-effective disease management. Through on-farm research, grower engagement, and extension activities, the program aims to improve productivity, reduce disease losses, and strengthen the long-term resilience of the Australian potato industry.
