Building the evidence: Ongoing surveillance supports the absence of PMTV in mainland Australia
Export tuber testing, tissue culture screening, regional soil surveillance and industry awareness continue to strengthen confidence in the health status of southeastern Australia seed potato production regions.
AuSPICA continues to build a substantial body of evidence supporting the absence of Potato Mop-Top Virus (PMTV) within mainland certified seed potato production systems.
Over recent years, AuSPICA certified seed potato exports to a range of international destinations have been supported by extensive laboratory testing of tubers for PMTV. These testing programs have been undertaken to meet the certification, phytosanitary, and importing country requirements, and have involved seed lots originating from multiple certified production regions across mainland Australia.
