Demo site results: Optimising Fertiliser use in North Motton, Tasmania

With fertiliser prices rising and input efficiency under the spotlight, PotatoLink partnered with Tasmanian grower Coby Badcock to trial four nutrient strategies on a commercial potato crop. This case study compares high-input and crop-guided programs using sap testing, examining impacts on yield, tuber size, and profitability.

The results challenge assumptions about pre-spread applications, highlight the influence of soil pH and nutrient interactions, and demonstrate that more fertiliser doesn’t always mean better performance.

A valuable read in our winter issue 17 of PotatoLink Magazine, for growers looking to refine their fertiliser approach and boost nutrient efficiency.
