Demo site update - Branxholm, TAS

A very wet month caused major delays in potato planting with some crops to be planted in December.

The demonstration farm owned by John Cresswell at Branxholm in NE Tasmania, dried enough during breaks in the weather to allow planting. The demonstration strip of Bayer Serenade Soil Activ® was planted 17 November in fairly good conditions. All went well with the product applied on target.

There are two treatments -

  • Serenade + metalaxyl (Ridomil®) in furrow

  • Serenade + azoxystrobin (Amistar®) + metalaxyl

A temperature data logger is placed at seed depth to capture vital readings that may indicate temperature influence on performance.

It is anticipated Bayer representative, Damien Odgers, will visit at around 70 days post planting to sample roots for analysis.

This will coincide with a crop walk to describe the work being conducted.
