Join PotatoLink for a webinar exploring -
the changing emissions reporting landscape in fresh produce,
why it is becoming increasingly important across the supply chain,
how growers can prepare for future requirements, and
overview of the Zero Net Emissions Horticulture Demonstration Farm project – what the project and trials are about, and results from their first season with potatoes, including using the H-GAF tool
The webinar will also feature the latest updates from the levy-funded greenhouse gas emissions analysis project being led by Lifecycles, including -
early findings,
emissions hotspots within potato production systems, and
what these results may mean for growers.
Meet the speakers
Chris Cosgrove, Sustenance Asia
Chris is one of Australia’s most experienced agrifood sustainability practitioners. He has been involved in corporate sustainability since 2002, and has specialised in agrifood sustainability since 2014, delivering pragmatic outcomes for clients in most agriculture industries. He is particularly focused on collaboration & making complex sustainability concepts simple & actionable.
Chris has also developed a common approach to GHG accounting for the Australian Fresh Produce Alliance, and is a Reference Group member of the Australian government project to develop a common approach to GHG accounting across agriculture. He is currently working with AFPA to help its members reduce time and cost needed to meet their mandatory climate related disclosures.
Marguerite Renouf, Lifecycles
Marguerite has 20 years of experience in sustainability assessment in both academia and consulting, specialising in environmental life cycle assessment (LCA). She is an authority on agricultural LCA in Australia, with a long track record working with the agriculture, food and bio-products sectors. Marguerite is a Senior Scientist and Head of Business Development at Lifecycles, Australia’s leading sustainability measurement consultancy. Lifecycles is based in Melbourne, but Marguerite work out of their office in Brisbane.
Dr Tory Clarke, Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture
Tory is a crop physiologist and Senior Research Fellow at the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture, University of Tasmania. Her research applies crop physiology to practical challenges in horticulture, helping improve productivity, sustainability and resilience in commercial production systems. She works closely with growers and industry to develop evidence-based strategies that support better crop and environmental outcomes.
Tory currently leads a field-based research program measuring greenhouse gas emissions from cool-climate vegetable production systems, including potatoes (Scan QR code for more info). This work is building the evidence base needed for improved nitrous oxide emission benchmarking, nitrogen use management and lower-emissions production strategies in horticulture. Her research supports growers and industry to identify practical ways to reduce on-farm nitrous oxide emissions while maintaining productive cropping systems.
