Grower Tour - Dublin

The potato may have originated in South America, but it found its true destiny in the green hills and fertile soil of Ireland.

The PotatoLink team are seeking Expressions of Interest in a grower tour around Dublin in conjunction with the World Potato Congress, 30 May to 3 June 2022.

ITINERARY:

Sunday 29 May: Free day in Dublin with a group dinner at 6:30 pm

Monday 30 May:

  • Visit Sam Dennigan & Co packhouse and storage

  • Visit Tomra Technical development facility

  • Registration and welcome to World Potato Congress

Tuesday 31 May: World Potato Congress

Wednesday 1 June: World Potato Congress

Thursday 2 June: World Potato Congress - field event of your choice

Friday 3 June: Possible visit to Teasgasc facilities at Oak Park.. Group dinner in the evening for those interested.

More information about the Congress, and full Congress programme including trade show, talks and field day are available at wpc2022ireland.com. With at least 50 trade exhibitors, as well as talks by leading potato companies and researchers from around the world, this promises to be an amazing event.

Total cost is estimated at $5,300 pp, including accommodation, flights, transport and the Congress registration. Hort Innovation may be able to subsidise these costs (yet to be confirmed). This could be a great opportunity, not only attend the world’s largest potato focused event, but also visit some of the world’s best farms and research facilities.

The tour will be co-ordinated and lead by PotatoLink’s Dr Jenny Ekman. If you are interested in this unique opportunity to see and learn of the latest, cutting-edge technology for potatoes, or would simply like to know more, please email us at comms@potatolink.com.au.
