Potato blackleg disease crop losses are generally low, however in the right conditions the disease can wreak havoc on a crop. There are many bacteria that cause blackleg in other crops as well as potatoes. Recent international biosecurity breaches suggest that other blackleg causing organism could be a significant threat to the industry. This 2018 report looks at the available literature and information regarding species present in Australia. It also investigates the accessibility of accurate diagnostic tests.
